Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns

Georgia in the 1906 through the eyes of a 14 year old boy named Will Tweedy. This is a fun classic book about growing up in a small town complete with gossip, superstitions, religion and death all brought together in a humorous way. Will Tweedy can get into more trouble then any boy his age but his grandpa gets into more trouble. He hates his aunt and is always trying to embarrass her. She always gets back at him too. His grandfather gets married to a very young new wife and the town can't stop talking about it!

I also read the unfinished sequel, Leaving Cold Sassy. It was sad and not what I expected but maybe it had a happy ending, I will never know because the author passed away before finishing it.

Healing Book
